Born in Buffalo, NY. Eldest of four children. Father (retired) was a CPA, Hospital Finance Officer, small business owner, Mother (retired) was a Chief Operations Officer at United Way. K-12 in Buffalo and West Seneca Public Schools. Undergraduate in Music Performance (trumpet) from Oberlin College (Ohio). Have lived throughout the United States, currently in Minneapolis, MN. Married to Alexis (physician, Pulmonary/Critical Care - Australian). Two Children (Sinclair - junior in high school, Beckett - fifth grade). Have also lived in Switzerland and Australia. Has been Music Director of Colorado Music Festival (2001-2013), Queensland Symphony (2000-2004), Phoenix Symphony (2005-2012), Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra (2005-2010), Minnesota Opera (2011-2018), New West Symphony (2019-current). I enjoy water and snow skiing. I love riding distances on my road bike. I love trying food from around the world and enjoy cooking. I'm fascinated by our human condition and how we have such similarities but lead completely separate lives. I am very aware that 99.99% of the people we cross paths with will never be in our orbit again.
